Mehrangarh fort was built by Rao Jodha in the year 1459. The fort is spread over an area of 5 km and there are seven gates which can be used to enter the Mehrangarh fort. Jayapol gate is constructed by Maharaja Man Singh for celebrate victory over Jaipur and Bikaner. Fattehpol gate constructed by Maharaja Ajit Singh for celebrate victory over the Mughals. The Walls of Mehrangarh fort are 125 ft high and made of stone. This fort is Jodhpur king’s property, the living proof of marvellous work of the artisans. Mehrangarh Fort is very nice place to visit. Best time to visit in evening or early morning.

The main palaces located in the Mehrangarh Fort are Moti Mahal, Phool Mahal, Sheesh Mahal, Zenana Dude, Takht Vilas and Jhanki Mahal. There are also two temples located inside the fort one is Chamundi Devi temple and other is Nagnechiaji temple which is dedicated to Goddess Durga. Some part of the fort now serve as museum in which you can see a collection of palanquins, musical instruments, royal cradles, costumes, arms, furniture and paintings.
