Situated on the Nagar Road of Pune city Aga Khan Palace was built-in 1892 by Imam Sultan Muhammad Shah Agakhan III. The Aga Khan Palace was donated to India by Aga Khan IV during 1969. The main palace now houses the Gandhi National Memorial where you can peek into the room where the Mahatma used to stay. The museum also serves as a memorial where in the remains (samadhi) of Mahatma Gandhi’s wife, Kasturba Gandhi rest in peace. The Aga Khan Palace covers an area of 19 acres. it is one of the biggest landmarks in Indian history. The total cost of construction of the palace was 1.2 million rupees and it take 5 years to complete.

Aga Khan Palace is located at about 2 km away from Bund Garden in Yerwada, on Pune-Nagar Road. In the grounds of the museum you can see final resting place of Kasturba Gandhi and Mahadev Desai where you can offer prayers. You can find cloth used by Gandhi at the time he was imprisoned in Pune. It has also a beautiful garden. Nice clean museum having historical values and memories of Mahatma Gandhi. The famous movie ‘Gandhi’ was shot here.
