Kelkar Museum was established in 1962 by Baba Dinkar Kelkar and was donated to the Maharashtra government in 1975. The main attraction of the museum is the Mastani Mahal which also depicts a few of the special exhibitions. Dinkar Kelkar spent almost 60 years traveling and purchasing objects from the remote areas and towns of India. The Museum is donated by Padmashree Late Dr. Dinkar. G. Kelkar to Government of Maharashtra. There are 21000 antiques to be displayed but 2500 only display for public. There are displayed household vessels of 18th and 19th century made of terracotta, copper and brass which was brought from Kerala, Gujarat and Maharashtra. Also visitors can see vessles like Dabado, a box in which dowry used to be given in Gujarat. Visitors also can see Wooden Objects, Arms and Armour, Textile, Toys, Writing Implements, Kitchen Utensils, Coins, Paintings, Leather Puppets, Mastani Mahal, Objects of Beauty Culture, Tambol, Musical Instruments, Earthenware, Bronzes, Terracotta, Lamps, Sculptures, Ivory etc.
