Santram temple is a very popular temple is located in Nadiad in State of Gujarat. The temple is dedicated to a sacred personality shree Santram Maharaj and regarded as a holy figure in Gujarat. Originally the temple was a resident of shree Santram who was a Saint of the category named Avadhoot. He came from Girnar to Nadiad in Samvat 1872 so that’s why he also called Girnari Bava. They lived in Nadiad for 15 year and worked good for the people. The temple is very beautiful and huge.

There are personal functions and social activities are organized in this temple many times and many trusts which are operated by the Santram temple such as Eye Hospitals, Pathology Laboratory, Radiology and Dispensary centers and many others service centers. Many Devotees believe that shree Santram is the manifestation of shree Dattatreya Guru. There isn’t much history about the temple but there are many miracle stories about saint Santram maharaj. The original Santram Maharaj was a great Saint in Gujarat who came to Nadiad to do spiritual good deeds for people. He was also known as Girnari Bava, Videhi Bava or Sukha-Sagarji. After living 15 years in Nadiad they took Jivant (live) Samadhi on the day of Samvat 1887 as per the Hindu calendar. One of the famous miracle stories, a laborer came with a rope and a bucket to have some water from the well which was near Rayan tree. Shree Santram asked for rope and bucket for him for bathing, but a labor refuses and went away by ignoring him. After some time He again came to well and saw that the Maharaj was taking bath from the water of well and The water had come to the surface by the power of the Santram saint. Due to some miracle incidents people started to come to the Santram in the huge crowd so that’s why he decided to go another place, but one of his followers named Pooja Bhai Patel stop him by saying that if he would leave Nadiad the Good luck of Nadiad will also go away. Shree Santram agreed with the condition that Pooja Bhai will stay with him until he stay in Nadiad.

Every year ‘samadhi mahotsav’ celebrated in Santram temple Nadiad. The mahotsav is celebrated with traditional religious spirit at Nadiad. Is this festival ‘sakar varsha’ (sugar rain) help by devotees. Over 5000 kg of sugar lumps are showered on the huge crowd and also the three-day fair is organized by the temple trust. The great Samadhi mahotsav’s celebration starts at 6 pm and people worship and sing many devotional songs and offer respect to Santram. Follower also make two-minute silence in favor of Santram before beginning of sakar varsha’. Thousands of People come to the temple to get blessing from maharaj and they enjoy sakar varsha a lot. About 6000 kg sugar and 1200kg coconut used as Prasad during this Festival or Mahotsav. Nadiad is a very peaceful and happy city due to the Santram temple. The other festivals such as Diwali, Guru Purnima and Maha Purnima, Annakut Utsav are also celebrated with great devotion spirit in santram temple. There is an “Akhand Jyoti” or a continues lamp is also in the temple. Shree Santram was very honest and kind.
