Mahatma Ghandhi Setu is actually a Bridge also famous as Ganga Setu. The Gandhi Bridge is built over the Ganga River in major city Patna in Bihar. It connects southern part and northern part of Bihar with each other. Mahatma Gandhi Setu is the second largest bridge with 18,860 ft length and 80 ft width. Mahatma Ghandhi Setu was inaugurated by past Prime Minister of India MRS. India Ghandhi in May month of 1982 year. Thousands of people were gathering for inauguration ceremony of the Gandhi Bridge in Patna. It took 10 years to complete the built construction by Gammon India Limited. It has total 45 spans and each of the spans is of 121 meters long on both sides. The bridge also has footpaths at both sides for pedestrians walking. Engineers made the slab by using hinge bearings and box girders support and it took total 88 Crore cost to build the Bridge. The major motto behind the bridge is connecting the north Patna to NH19. The longest bridge is considered the marvelous sample of the excellent engineering.
