The Mysore Zoo is located very close to the palace in Mysore City of Karnataka state of India. The zoo is considerate one of the oldest and favorite tourist destinations of India. Sri Chamarajendra Zoological Gardens was admitted by the erstwhile Ruler of the City names Chamarajendra Wadiyar Bahadur in 1892. The zoo got its name after his founder in 1909 to pay respect to Chamarajendra Wadiyar Bahadur. Mysore Zoo is the second spot which is most visited after Mysore Palace. The zoo houses more than 1500 species of wild animals and birds consisting from various countries. Many famous celebrities and reputed persons given contribution in to development of the Mysore Zoo. Mysore Zoo was established during 1892 and covering 10 acres area of the Maharaja Sri Chamaraja Wodeyar palace. The zoo was introduced to the common public in 1902. The tourist can enjoy an artificial lake created within the zoo. 1972. Before the zoo was called Mysore Zoo but letter renamed to Sri Chamarajendra Zoological Gardens. The zoo has an immense collection of wild and rarest animals such as Cheetah, Jaguar, Tiger, Leopard Cat, Lions and Small cats, Indian Civets and palm civet.
