Kishna Raja Sagara Dam is a well-known Tourist destination of Mysore City which has all garden, River and Dam. The place is also popularly called as KRS Dam. The place is original a Mysore Dam and located 12 km far from Mysore City and it was designed by famous architect Mokshagundam Vishweswaraiah. The dam is named from the ruler of the King of Mysore named Krishnaraja Wodeyar IV. The KRS Dam was built during the Wadeyar kings regime during 1932. The KRS dam is 130 feet heighten and 8600 feet long with excellent design and structure. It is the first kind in the World which has Automatic sluice gates.

Krishna Raja Sagara dam was constructed in year 1932 and a primary source of water supply for agricultural land of both Mandya and Mysore. The foundation of the KRS Dam was done by the Mysore rajaru over the Kaveri River. The fifth part of population was died due to the drought during 1875 to 76. At that time the Mysore and Mandaya were suffered from extreme dryness and hot summers. At that time The Chief Engineer named M. Visvesvaraya suggested and show a blueprint of an Idea dam that can be built across the River near the Kannambadi Village but neglected by the finance ministry of Mysore then he reached to the Diwan of Mysore Anand Rao and got approval for Dam and started constriction with the cost about INR 81 lakh. The KSR dam is very secured and huge place with the close garden but tourists are not allowed to view from the top of the dam. The tourist can enjoy a Full view of Dam from the beneath Brindavan Garden.
