The lake was then known as Halsur or Alasur when it was constructed by Kempe Gowda II in the 2nd century. Ulsoor lake was used for the temple purpose earlier in past but now it’s used for boating purpose which is one of the major attractions of the lake. There is a boat club at the lake from where you can hire cruises. Ulsoor lake Spread over an area of approximately 1.5 square kilometers. A visit to Ulsoor lake can be combined with a visit to the sikh gurudwara which is very closed from lake and it is one of the largest gurudwara of bangalore city.

There is a park, boat club and also swimming pool at the lake where you can enjoy. The lake is marked with several beautiful islands making it an interesting location for visitors. The lake has a radius of about 3 km and is ideal for rowing around in a boat. There is a boat club at the lake which offers boating services to take visitors around the lake with Pedal and rowboats.
