This is one of the oldest church in Bangalore which must visit in christmas and Easter time. St. Mary’s Basilica of Bangalore was built by Abbe Dubois in 1818 as small chapel. Reverend L.E. Kleiner got it changed into Gothic style of architecture in the year 1882 with stained glass windows, imported from Paris. During the second World War these windows were removed and restored in the year 1947. In 1973 the church was elevated to the status of Minor Basilica by the Papal Order by Pope John Paul VI. St. Mary’s Basilica is a 172 feet long and 50 feet broad structure with a spire which is 160-foot high.

Before 9 days of this events known as Novena which is observed from 29 August to 7 September the holy masses are celebrated throughout the day.
